A Higher-Level Martial Arts Academy for Serious About Training

Structured, Progressive Wing Chun Training Designed for Real Development

Develop practical self-defense skills while building strength, confidence, discipline, and composure under pressure. Our structured curriculum provides a clear path from foundational training through advanced application.

What Intentional Training Can Develop

  • A body that feels stronger and more capable
  • The ability to remain present and focused under pressure
  • A system to restore structure, confidence, and purpose
  • Practical self-defense grounded in application

More Than Learning Techniques

Students do not come to Gibborrim Academy merely to collect techniques or complete another workout. They enter a structured process that develops capability through practice, correction, pressure, and continued responsibility.

  • Practical skill developed through progressive application
  • Confidence grounded in demonstrated capability
  • Physical coordination, structure, and conditioning
  • Emotional regulation and composure under pressure
  • A disciplined path toward continued mastery

A Structured Path From Foundation to Mastery

Applied Wing Chun is taught as a complete developmental system. Students move through a progressive curriculum, receive regular feedback, and learn to take increasing responsibility for their own training and the people with whom they train.

  • Progressive 12-month training cycles
  • A defined curriculum and advancement process
  • Training built around intention rather than convenience
  • Mentorship, accountability, and measurable development

About our Program

Students join Gibborrim Academy because they are seeking more than a recreational martial arts class. They want a structured training environment that develops practical self-defense, physical capability, discipline, and composure under pressure.

Applied Wing Chun is a concept-based fighting system built around efficiency, structure, adaptability, and close-range application. Students learn how principles work, test them with partners, and develop the judgment necessary to use them responsibly.

Our program is designed for people committed to sustained growth. Advancement is not based solely on attendance or time. It reflects the student’s developing knowledge, application, maturity, and responsibility.

Progressive Levels of Training

Novice Training: Foundational concepts, structure, movement, range awareness, applications, partner drills, and Sil Lim Tau.

Intermediate Training: Advanced applications, integrated striking and trapping, Chum Kiu, Bil Jee, Wooden Man training, and traditional conditioning.

✅ Advanced Training: Higher-level Chi Sau, tactical application, weapons training, sparring refinement, mentorship, and increasing responsibility within the Academy.

✅ All Levels Training: A mixed-experience environment incorporating curriculum from throughout the system, including applications, forms, Chi Sau, conditioning, and controlled sparring.

Weekly Training Schedule

Students ages 13–15 train exclusively in the Tuesday and Thursday All Levels class.

Students ages 16 and older
may participate in the Novice, Intermediate, and All Levels classes appropriate to their experience and Academy placement.

Free Sparring participation
is determined by demonstrated readiness and approval.

How Enrollment Works at
Gibborrim Academy of Martial Arts

We’re not a “drop-in” martial arts studio. Students enroll in structured 12-month training cycles with a strong focus on commitment, values, development, and mentorship.

Step 1: Attend Intro

Begin by attending our monthly Intro to Wing Chun event. This is the first step for anyone interested in joining Gibborrim Academy.

During the event, you will experience Applied Wing Chun firsthand, learn how our training works, and gain a clearer understanding of the Academy’s culture, expectations, schedule, and enrollment commitment. We will also have an opportunity to learn more about you, your goals, and what you are seeking through martial arts training.

Following the event, those who appear aligned with the Academy and prepared to continue may be invited to complete the 3-Class Assessment Series. Attending the Intro to Wing Chun event does not guarantee an invitation to the assessment or enrollment in the Academy.

Step 2: Complete the 3-Class Assessment Series

If there appears to be mutual alignment following the Fit Interview, you may be invited to complete our 3-Class Assessment Series.

The process begins with a semi-private introduction with the Lead Instructor, followed by three classes within the appropriate Academy schedule. This gives you an opportunity to experience Applied Wing Chun training while allowing us to evaluate your readiness, coachability, safety, and ability to train responsibly with others.

The investment for the 3-Class Assessment Series is $100. If you are invited to enroll, the full assessment fee is credited toward your enrollment.

For ages 13–15:
Applicants ages 13–15 complete their assessment exclusively in the Tuesday and Thursday All Levels class.

Step 3: Participate in the Path Forward Conversation

After completing the 3-Class Assessment Series, we meet for a Path Forward Conversation. Together, we discuss your experience, what we observed, and whether continuing with the Academy is the appropriate next step.

Every applicant who completes the assessment receives a Path Forward Conversation. However, completing the assessment does not guarantee admission. When there is mutual alignment and the applicant demonstrates the readiness, character, and commitment expected of our students, an official invitation to enroll may be extended.

What We Look For in Our Students

We are selective by design. Gibborrim Academy is for students who want more than casual participation and are prepared to take responsibility for their training and development.

We look for students who:

  • Show up consistently, on time, and prepared
  • Approach training with humility and curiosity
  • Value structure, discipline, and respect
  • Welcome instruction, correction, and appropriate challenge
  • Work safely and responsibly with training partners
  • Are willing to learn with and from others
  • Contribute positively to the culture of the Academy

Skill can be developed, but the willingness to learn, accept responsibility, and treat others with respect must already be present.
